Communication While Away

We know staying connected matters. Schools set their own phone policy, but parents are updated regularly through the school and our team.

Costs & Support

  • Not at all.
You don’t need to be loud, confident, or extroverted to belong here. Some students arrive quietly, observe first, and grow into the experience in their own way. There’s space for every personality — just show up as yourself.

  • Yes.
While the days are meaningful and engaging, there is also time to rest, reflect, and simply be. Free moments often become some of the most memorable — chatting, journaling, walking, or just enjoying the pace of village life.

  • That’s completely normal.
Many students feel homesick at some point, especially in a new environment. You’ll be supported, encouraged to talk, and reminded that these feelings usually pass. Often, students discover strength and independence they didn’t know they had.

Parent FAQ

  • Yes — safety and well-being are our highest priority.

The program is supported by school staff and experienced Global Gratitude facilitators, with clear supervision structures and comprehensive risk planning in place. We work with trusted local partners, and students are supported throughout the experience.

  • Students are supervised at all times by a combination of school staff and Global Gratitude facilitators.

Schools maintain their required staff-to-student ratios, with teachers providing direct pastoral care and supervision throughout the experience. Alongside this, experienced Global Gratitude facilitators manage the day-to-day operations of the program and provide additional on-the-ground support.

Clear structures are in place each day to ensure students are accounted for, supported, and engaged in all activities. There are no unsupervised situations — students are always in a managed, guided environment.

This shared approach allows for both a strong duty of care and a well-supported, structured experience for every student.

  • Communication during the program is guided by each school’s travel and mobile phone policies, which are clearly outlined in the lead-up to departure — typically at a parent information evening.

Throughout the immersion, schools usually provide regular updates via their communication channels, such as email or social media, sharing key moments and photos from the experience.

Students will also have opportunities to contact home at appropriate times, while still being encouraged to stay present and engaged in the experience.

  • Students are supported at all times by both school staff and Global Gratitude facilitators. School staff take the lead in managing student wellbeing, including medications and minor health concerns, with facilitators providing additional on-ground support.

For anything beyond minor issues, clear medical protocols are in place. We work with trusted local providers to ensure students receive appropriate care quickly and safely.

Comprehensive travel insurance is included, providing full coverage if further medical treatment is required,  including, if necessary, arrangements for a student to return to Australia.

Parents and schools are kept informed of any significant concerns, ensuring clear communication throughout.

  • Each day is thoughtfully structured to balance immersion, activity, and reflection.

Mornings are usually spent alongside the local community, giving students a genuine insight into daily life and culture. This might include time in homes, schools, or shared community spaces.

Throughout the day, students take part in guided experiences and activities that are both engaging and purposeful. These are designed to challenge their perspective, build connection, and deepen their understanding of the environment they are in.

Afternoons often include group-based challenges, cultural experiences, or time exploring the surrounding area, bringing energy and variety to the day.

In the evenings, students come together for structured reflection sessions. These are a key part of the program, helping them process what they’ve experienced, share insights, and connect it back to their own lives.

Each day is intentionally designed, not just to experience something different, but to help students understand it, reflect on it, and grow from it.

  • This is an experience unlike any other — intentionally designed to challenge, support, and grow students in a real-world setting.

Your child won’t just visit another country; they’ll be immersed in a completely different way of life. Through this, they develop a deeper sense of gratitude, perspective, and awareness of the world around them.

Students consistently return more confident, more grounded, and more appreciative of what they have. They build stronger relationships, step outside their comfort zone, and begin to see their role in the world differently.

Importantly, this isn’t left to chance. The experience is structured with guided reflection and learning throughout, helping students process what they’re seeing and translate it into meaningful personal growth.

  • The final cost of the program will depend on the specific itinerary chosen by your child’s school.

Payments are structured across three instalments to make it manageable for families. The initial deposit is typically only a few hundred dollars, with the final payment due approximately two months before departure.

This structure allows families time to plan financially, while also giving students the opportunity to contribute through fundraising if they choose.
